G. Perry Greene, Jr. – President

G. Perry Greene Jr. (Skip) is the second generation President of Greene Construction, Inc.  A family owned company that was purchased from Mr. W.C. Greene by his father, G. Perry Greene, Sr. in 1946.  Mr. W.C. Greene had started the company in the 1930’s.  Skip has been continually involved with the day to day operation of the company since his release from the US Navy “Seabees” in the fall of 1970.  He has a BS degree from Appalachian State University and has been happily married to his wife Dee since 1969.  They have two daughters, one which is married and has a son.   Skip and Dee have lived in Boone all of their lives except for a short time away during his stint in the military.  Greene Construction and Skip personally are licensed unlimited General and Highway Contractors in both North Carolina and Tennessee.

Skip has had the opportunity to be involved with the growth of Boone, ASU, and the High Country region in many and varied ways.  Skip takes great pride in his involvement with missions through First Baptist Church of Boone and the Baptist State Convention of NC.   This has given him the opportunity to serve in many of the disasters that have hit the eastern half of the US over the past 30 years, including floods, hurricanes, tornados, as well as the terrorist disaster at the Pentagon and NY City.  This has also opened doors for Skip to use his construction experience literally around the world from Africa to North Korea, from behind the iron curtain to Pago Pago and many places in-between.

One of Skip’s greatest joys is to be involved in a project from a dream/vision that an individual has, to them moving in and occupying their dream.  This could be a man’s work shop or his home, a park on ASU campus, to a seminary campus in Eastern Europe.  The taking of a vision and seeing it become a reality is worth all the effort that one is willing to put into it.
